* TAXI:
+ Private Taxis: Operate in Kinshasa, Goma, Lubumbashi, Kisangani.
+ Share Taxis: Operate in most urban areas and in some country areas. Road conditions in much of the country require the use of 4 wheel drive or a rugged truck to make much progress.

* CAR RENTAL
+ Driving: On the right hand side of the road as in France, USA etc.
+ Road Conditions: Some city roads are in good condition in the Kinshasa and Lubumbashi areas. Most of the country's roads are unsealed and traffic struggles to move anywhere at all when it rains. A rugged, 4 wheel drive is a distinct advantage and for many roads, a necessity.

* Self Drive: Self drive car rental is available in Kinshasa but is not recommended because of the poor security situation in the area .

* BOAT:
+ Kinshasa to Kisangani: River boats operate this route to an irregular schedule; the whole journey takes about 12 days; often the 'boat' is a series of barges lashed together pulled by a tug boat; restaurants, bars and music abound; there are cabins and 1st, 2nd and 3rd class; great African atmosphere; can be boarded at various places including Lisala and Bumba.
+ Goma to Bukavu: Boats operate on Lake Kivu; approximately 8 hours; stunning views; irregular service.
+ Kaleme to Kulundu: Lake Tanganyika service; weekly.
