Ethiopia - National Parks
 
* Having now returning to a more peaceful state, information is emerging about the current situation of the parks but is not yet complete.

* We have no current information on the following parks: Gambela National Park, Harer Wildlife Sanctuary, Mago National Park, Nechisar National Park, Omo National Park, Stephanie Wildlife Reserve, Yabelo Wildlife Sanctuary.


Awash National Park and Reserves
Dry savannah with some woodland. Access by road from Addis Ababa. Reasonable accommodation available. Animals living in the park include Beisa oryx, dik dik, gazelle, kudu, ostrich and a very wide variety of birds.

Bale Mountains National Park
Forest and moorland. Access by difficult road from Addis Ababa or by plane to Goba. No accommodation in the park. Animals living in the park include gelada baboon, grey duiker, giant mole rat, klipspringer, menelik bushbuck, mountain nyala, reedbuck, semien jackal, warthog and a very wide variety of birds.

Simien National Park
Mountainous scenery. Access from Gondar by road. Modest accommodation available. Animals to be seen include Baboon, ibex, Simien fox and a wide variety of birds.
